Beloved Castro Valley Restaurant Closes
A popular Chinese eatery on Castro Valley Boulevard recently announced its closing, much to patrons' disappointment.
CASTRO VALLEY, CA — Silver Spoon Gourmet Cuisine, the popular Castro Valley Chinese restaurant, abruptly closed recently.
Word about the closing spread via Facebook over the weekend, with many people commenting that they’ll miss the 3563 Castro Valley Blvd restaurant and its owner, Simon Wong.
Calls to the restaurant went unanswered, though Wong left a voicemail that provides insight into the closing – and a farewell message.

“Hi, this is Silver Spoon Gourmet. Devastating news: We are not operating anymore. We lost our lease. We all will be missing you guys. Take good care and enjoy life,” he said on the recording.
“Noooo that’s my favorite place!! They put a for lease sign up last week,” one patron responded to the news on Facebook.

Another person chimed in with “I loved Simon and his restaurant [was] my go-to Chinese food! Now where?”
“WOW. [T]hey were hands down the best Chinese food. No one has spring rolls & sweet/sour sauce like them,” stated another disappointed patron.
