Blood Drive Scheduled In Castro Valley
Sign up now for a donation slot. The blood is needed to help hospitals get through the Memorial Day Weekend.
CASTRO VALLEY, CA — The Alameda County Fire Department (ACFD) and Local 55 are calling on local residents to help save lives by participating in a community blood drive on Friday, May 16, from 7:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. The blood drive will take place at Station 25, with a Vitalant Bloodmobile located at 20336 San Miguel Avenue, Castro Valley, CA 94546.
Participants can schedule an appointment online at Vitalant’s donor portal using the unique blood drive code Alcofire. Walk-ins will be accommodated as availability allows.
“Every donation counts,” ACFD officials said. “We encourage our community to step up and donate — it’s a simple way to make a big difference.”

Vitalant, one of the nation’s largest nonprofit blood providers, serves hospitals in the Bay Area and across the country, ensuring a steady supply of blood for trauma patients, surgeries, cancer treatments, and other urgent medical needs. According to Vitalant, every blood donation can save up to three lives. The organization stresses that maintaining an adequate blood supply is critical, especially during summer months and holidays when donations often decline. The Memorial Day Weekend is just one week after this blood drive.
