Car Hits And Kills A Pedestrian Lying In The Street This Morning

CASTRO VALLEY, CA — A person lying on a roadway in Castro Valley was hit and killed by a vehicle Friday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.

A collision involving a pedestrian was reported at about 10 a.m. on westbound Fairmont Drive east of Foothill Boulevard.

CHP officials have not said why the pedestrian was lying on the roadway, but the person was taken to a hospital following the collision and died there. The driver stopped at the scene and cooperated with investigators.

The name of the person who died was not immediately available from the Alameda County Coroner's Bureau.
