Castro Valley Teen to Serve On Panel With Nobel Prize Winner
Alameda County Youth Poet Laureate Zoe Dorado is a student at Castro Valley High School.
CASTRO VALLEY, CA — N. Scott Momaday, a Pulitzer Prize-winning novelist, short story writer, essayist, and poet whose work celebrates and preserves Native American heritage, will join an online discussion at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 23, with Alameda County Youth Poet Laureate Zoe Dorado, who is a student at Castro Valley High School, and Alameda County Librarian Chris Selig.
Momaday, who won a Pulitzer in 1969 and has received many other honors, will discuss his book "Earth Keeper: Reflections on the American Land," free-verse poetry reflecting on his connection to the American landscape and its influence on the Kiowa, a Great Plains tribe.
Momaday, who received his doctorate from Stanford University, shares his reverence for the natural world and calls for all to protect Earth. A question-and-answer session will follow the discussion.
