On August 5th, three non-profit charities were presented with donation checks from Castro Valley Sanitary District (CVSan) at CVSan's Board

On August 5th, three non-profit charities were presented with donation checks from Castro Valley Sanitary District (CVSan) at CVSan’s Board of Director’s Regular Board meeting. Artists Relaxing Together Inc. (A.R.T. Inc.), Castro Valley Education Foundation (CVEF), and Family Emergency Shelter Coalition (FESCO) were presented with checks of $410.00, $860.00, and $735.00, respectively.
General Manager Roland Williams stated, “It is a pleasure to recognize and highlight the charities selected by Earth Day Clean-Up volunteers to receive donations on their behalf. This was the 21st Annual Earth Day Clean-Up and the 12th year that volunteers had the opportunity to select one of three charitable organizations to receive a $5.00 donation on their behalf. All three charities are 501(c)(3) organizations and CVSan is proud to be donating a total of $2,005.00 this year.
A.R.T. Inc. President Pat Doyne thanked CVSan for the donation and shared information for an upcoming exhibit at the Adobe Art Center titled Cornucopia of Color, running from September 8th to October 4th. A reception will be held on September 13th. She stated, “The artist featured on the flyer is being given their first opportunity to publicly exhibit their work, and this is an example of the type of work Art, Inc. does to support local artists, many of whom are students from Castro Valley High School (CVHS). Art, Inc. also has exhibits at the Castro Valley Library and at Kenneth C. Aitken Senior Center.”

CVEF Vice President of Marketing Jacqui Berg expressed her gratitude and shared, “CVEF actually gives away over $100,000 annually in scholarships to students and teachers with ties to Castro Valley. More than $20,000 was raised at the CVEF annual “Spring for Education” fundraiser which enables CVEF to support district-wide programs and to fill any gaps in resources that are needed.”
FESCO Office Manager Stephanie Miller thanked CVSan for its support and shared, “FESCO provides a unique service because we are the last organization offering transitional housing for families in Alameda County, a vital step for families that need to get out of homelessness. FESCO also offers families a welcome home kit to help them buy basic need items like toothbrushes.”
