County Educators Gear Up for First Annual Integrated Learning Summer Institute

Integrated Learning Summer Institute convenes educators to improve student and teacher engagement through creativity, rigor, and accountability

By The Alameda County Office of Education

The Alameda County Office of Education (ACOE) proudly launches its first annual Integrated Learning Summer Institute, Inventing Our Future, at the Chabot Space & Science Center at 10000 Skyline Blvd., Oakland on Aug. 7 through Aug. 9.

The sold-out Institute will host more than 35 mini workshops presented by leading educational experts to help participants navigate the changing educational climate, growing demographic diversity, and challenges of student engagement in today's public schools.

The Integrated Learning Summer Institute serves as a springboard for ACOE's commitment to working in innovative ways to provide leadership and service to the education community.

"It is an important milestone for the Alameda County Office of Education — an opportunity to engage a broad community of educators in making a collective impact on our profession, our changing climate, and our future," said Sheila Jordan, Superintendent of Alameda County Schools.

ACOE recently launched an Integrated Learning Department based on over a decade of work in arts and arts-integrated teaching and learning in Alameda County through Art IS Education.

The Integrated Learning Summer Institute helps to establish a county-wide integrative approach that brings together rigorous disciplinary skills, applied learning, and formative and summative performance assessments.
