Galloping Glads Third In NorCal Track
El Cerrito graduate Robert Stitts sweeps sprint titles; State leader Daniel Trampe of Dublin High triumphs in 5K
It was a massive day for the Chabot Gladiators at the Northern California Track and Field Championships at American River College.
The Chabot men placed third in the team standings led by some huge performances by Robert Stitts, a freshman out of El Cerrito High School.
Stitts won NorCal titles in the 100 and 200 meters with blazing times of 10.36 and 21.07.
State leader Daniel Trampe took the 5K title with a time of 15:07.
After battling illness during the week, Kyle Galinis still took second in the 10k with a huge 35 second personal best and time of 31:22. He doubled back the following night with a state-qualifying sixth in the 5K.
Sophomore Logan Phulps qualified for state meet with a fifth in the Steeplechase, and freshman dual-sport athlete Shawn Carter translated his hoop schools to a sixth-place finish in the triple jump.
On the women’s side, Egypt Hughes finished with two school records! She placed second in the 200 with a time of 24.55 and third in the 100 with a 11.86. Freshman Medha Gowda out of Dublin High placed third in the 1500.
