Volunteers Get Free Lunch At Earth Day Cleanup And Community Fair
Volunteers are invited to help beautify neighborhoods and enjoy lunch, activities, and sustainability exhibits at Weekes Park.
HAYWARD, Calif. — The City of Hayward is calling on residents to roll up their sleeves and join in the annual Citywide Cleanup and Community Fair on Saturday, April 26, as part of its Earth Day celebration.
The event begins at 8:30 a.m. at Weekes Park, where volunteers will gather before heading out to pick up litter and debris from surrounding neighborhoods. After the cleanup effort, participants will return to the park for a free lunch catered by El Taquito and a sustainability-themed Community Fair featuring fun activities and opportunities to connect with local organizations.
“Events like these show the power of community and the difference we can make together in keeping Hayward clean and sustainable,” organizers said.

Volunteers are encouraged to wear closed-toed shoes, bring sun protection, and carry a reusable water bottle. Lunch will be free for those who RSVP by April 24, but same-day registration will also be available at the park.
Earth Day, which has been recognized globally since 1970, encourages environmental awareness and community action. For those unable to attend this event, the Keep Hayward Clean and Green Task Force holds four additional cleanups each year, open to all residents who want to make a difference in their community.
