Hayward Man Killed In Crash Identified
He was a passenger in a vehicle that overturned on the freeway.
HAYWARD, CA — A man who was killed when the SUV he was in overturned on Interstate Highway 80 in Solano County on New Year's Eve has been identified by the county coroner's office.
Hayward resident Elias Valle Mejia, 25, was killed around 4:50 p.m. on Dec. 31 between Fairfield and Vacaville, near Cherry Glen Road.
Mejia was a passenger in a Dodge Durango driving west on I-80 at high speeds and using multiple lanes when the driver lost control and flipped the vehicle, according to California Highway Patrol Officer Michael Barday. Drug and/or alcohol impairment is suspected, he said.
