Hayward Tacqueria Makes List Of Best East Bay Taco Joints

HAYWARD, CA — Whether you're looking to grab a quick lunch or savor a gourmet experience, tacos make an amazing meal.

Eater SF put together a list of the 17 best taco destinations in the East Bay that is periodically updated. One Hayward restaurant made the list: Habibi's Birria.

"Attached to a Valero gas station in Hayward, this unassuming taco outpost whips up Mexiterranean food with a menu that combines falafel, gyros, and birria," EaterSF wrote. "Before you fuel up, head inside to order a trio of halal quesabirria tacos (with consommé, of course). If you’re just driving through, order ahead for pickup and eat outside in their small, turf patio."

According to the Habibi's Birria Instagram page, the taco joint now has three locations:

• 138 Jackson St, Hayward
• 26005 Eden Landing Rd, Hayward
• 403 Lewis Ave, San Leandro

Hours are 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

A Grand Opening celebration for the San Leandro restaurant will be held Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., featuring live Mariachi music.
