Presented by Jenny Lin Foundation, the annual Jenny Lin Summer Youth Concert featuring young musicians in the Bay Area is scheduled for Saturday, July 12, 6:30 PM, at the Chabot College Reed L. Buffington Performing Arts Center (25555 Hesperian Blvd) in Hayward. Musicians (aged 14 to 18) will perform in 3 groups: Symphonic Band (directed by Matthew Fell), String Orchestra (directed by Greg Conway) and Choir (directed by Jason Sarten). There will be an opportunity to buy some Jenny's Jewelry as well in support of child safety and youth music education.

Jenny Lin was a young, talented musician and straight-A student, who was murdered in her own home in 1994 at age 14. This brutal murder devastated her family and shocked the community. To this day, there is still no arrest or conviction of the murderer. Jenny’s parents, John and Mei-lain Lin, determined to keep Jenny’s name and spirit alive and to maintain public awareness of the unsolved murder, have hosted the free annual Jenny Lin Youth Music Concert for the past 31 years. Each year during the months of June and July, the Jenny Lin Foundation, founded by John and Mei-lian Lin,
offers free practice sessions to music students, and showcases their musical achievements through the community concert that is open to the public for free. More than 200 musicians from middle and high schools of the East Bay have registered for this year's summer program. Over the years, 5,000 young musicians have enjoyed the benefits of the free Jenny Lin Youth Summer Music Program.

The concert is just one of the major program services sponsored by the Jenny Lin Foundation. Other Foundation-sponsored programs include scholarships for young musicians, a safety awareness program on the Foundation’s website, an annual Safety Walk alongside the Castro Valley Boulevard at the anniversary of Jenny’s murder, and the ongoing investigation of Jenny's murder with Alameda County Sheriff’s Office. A $200,000 reward is available for anyone with information leading to the lawful conviction of Jenny's killer. Anyone with information please contact the Alameda County Sheriff's Department at (510) 667-3636 or the Jenny Lin hotline at (855)4-JENNY-LIN.
