Man Fatally Shot in Hayward Wednesday Night Identified
The Stockton man was pronounced dead at the scene.

HAYWARD, CA — A man who was fatally shot in Hayward late Wednesday night was identified by police today as 19-year-old Marcos Villanueva of Stockton. Hayward officers who responded at 11:23 p.m. Wednesday night to the 1700 block of B Street on a report of a shooting found Villanueva suffering from a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
A local hospital later told police that a second gunshot victim had been taken to their facility with wounds that weren't life-threatening. Hayward police said they're investigating a possible link between Villanueva and the second gunshot victim but haven't confirmed a connection and don't have any updates today on the two shootings.
Villanueva's shooting death is the 10th homicide in Hayward so far this year. There were nine homicides in Hayward in 2015 and six homicides in 2014.
