Man Killed In East Bay Road Rage Fight Was Father Of 9: 'His Absence Is Deeply Felt'

The suspect in the killing has since been released from jail, according to a report by the San Francisco Chronicle.

CASTRO VALLEY, CA — Jason Elola was the heart of his family and friend group; someone his loved ones could always count on to bring laughter and warmth wherever he went.

But now, his family is facing life without him. Elola, 49, died Saturday after being injured in a fight that erupted after a road rage incident in Castro Valley, according to authorities.

On Monday, hundreds gathered in Tracy for a vigil honoring Elola.

Elola, a father of 9, was described in a fundraiser started by his family as a kind, generous and loving man who always put others before himself.

"The sudden loss has left them with the overwhelming burden of funeral expenses and the challenge of covering daily living costs in the months ahead," the fundraiser said. "Jason was everything to everyone, and his absence is deeply felt by all who knew him."

Martin W. Davis Jr. was taken into custody in connection with the road rage incident, the Alameda County Sheriff's Office said, adding that he cooperated with the investigation. He has since been released from jail, according to a report by the San Francisco Chronicle. It's unclear if he will face any charges.

Elola was returning home to Tracy from San Francisco on Saturday with his wife and two daughters when David Jr. slammed into their car at Willbeam and Norbridge avenues in Castro Valley, according to a report by KTLA5.

A fight broke out between the two men, which left Elola with injuries that proved to be fatal, according to authorities.
