A Man Told Police His Girlfriend Had Killed Herself. He's Now Being Charged With Her Murder: Report

The woman died after jumping out of a car in a desperate attempt to flee from her abuser, according to a The Mercury News report.

HAYWARD, CA — A Hayward man has been charged with murder in connection with the death of a woman who jumped out of a moving car on a Bay Area Freeway last year, according to a report by The Mercury News.

When Sara Abdelhadi died after being hit by multiple vehicles on Interstate 580 in Livermore on Sept. 23, 2024, Mohammed Yousef Omar told police her family's meanness had driven her to kill herself, according to the report.

Omar and Abdelhadi had started dating just months earlier, according to the report. Investigators discovered that Omar had been abusing Abdelhadi throughout the relationship, and at some point, had kidnapped her, according to the report.

When she jumped out of the car, it was in a desperate attempt to flee from Omar, according to the report.

“I’m (expletive) shaking bra," Omar said in a message to Abdelhadi, according to the report. "I’m (expletive) kill you (expletive). Watch.”

Omar is now facing several charges, including murder, involuntary manslaughter, kidnapping, and vehicular manslaughter with gross negligence, according to the report.
