Planning Commissioner Appointed To Hayward City Council
Dan Goldstein, a 17-year resident, was appointed by 5-0 vote by the council during a special meeting.
HAYWARD, CA — A Hayward planning commissioner is now a member of the City Council following his appointment Monday night, city officials said.
Dan Goldstein, a 17-year resident, was appointed by 5-0 vote, with one member abstaining, by the council during a special meeting. He will complete Mark Salinas' term following his swearing in as mayor.
Goldstein ran for the City Council in the November election and finished third among eight candidates for two open seats.

City officials described Goldstein as a civically active resident who served on the Planning Commission for more than seven years. Goldstein was described as a cyber security professional, an investor and a consultant. He consults with Voluntas, which provides management software systems to public schools.
Goldstein is on the board of the Hayward Education Foundation, which provide resources to teachers. He is also a member of the Hayward Rotary Club, and participates in the East Bay Area Amateur Radio Relay League, a group of amateur radio enthusiasts.
