300 Brush Piles Torched In Prescribed Burn
The brush was cleared from a regional park ahead of the dry summer months.

CASTRO VALLEY, CA — The Alameda County Fire Department, in partnership with the East Bay Regional Park District Fire Department, completed a prescribed burn at Anthony Chabot Regional Park on April 24, reducing 300 brush piles in a proactive effort to lower wildfire risk.
The project, carried out by ACFD’s Hand Crew 8, is part of ongoing efforts to manage vegetation and improve wildfire resilience in Castro Valley, Oakland, and surrounding areas.
“This important work not only lowers the risk of dangerous wildfires but also promotes healthier ecosystems and safeguards our communities,” the fire department said in a statement.
