Property Tax Deadline Approaches In Alameda County

Here are the steps to take if you have not received your property tax bill.

ALAMEDA COUNTY, CA — More than 444,000 secured roll property tax bills for Fiscal Year 2024-2025 are being mailed to property owners, according to Alameda County Treasurer and Tax Collector Henry C. Levy.

The total amount of these bills exceeds $5.8 billion.

The first installment of property taxes is due by November 1, 2024, with a delinquent penalty assessed after 5 p.m. on December 10, 2024.

The second installment is due by February 1, 2025, and will be considered delinquent after 5 p.m. on April 10, 2025, with an additional 10-percent penalty and $10 cost applied. Penalties can soar into thousands of dollars.

To ensure timely payments, Alameda County provides several options:

  • eCheck: Pay online without fees via acgov.org/propertytax.
  • Credit Card: Available online or via phone with a fee.
  • Drop Box: Check payments can be dropped at the County Administration Building or Business License Office.
  • Mail: Send payments to the new lockbox address: Henry C. Levy, Treasurer and Tax Collector, PO Box 45862, San Francisco, CA 94145-0862.

If you do not receive your tax bill by November 8, 2024, contact the Tax Collector’s Office at 510-272-6800 or download a copy online.

Failure to receive a bill does not exempt property owners from penalties for late payments.
