KIPP King Collegiate to Hold Community Meeting on Upcoming Expansion Project

The meeting begins at 6 p.m. this Monday, Feb. 6 at KIPP King Collegiate High School.

submitted plans to the Department of State Architects and Office of Public School Construction to expand the high school campus in 2008.

In cooperation with , KIPP King Collegiate will replace the portables currently housing high school students with new buildings and upgrade the field.

With the combination of an economic downturn and construction costs being high, KIPP Bay Area schools had to sacrifice a building from the project and redesign the track and field with no track. The asphalt in the back of the property also had to be left as is.

After several years of waiting for State financing, KIPP King Collegiate has received funding and is ready to break ground on Feb. 14. Funding for the expansion project comes mostly from the State and Measure O. KIPP Bay Area Schools plans on fundraising the rest.

The community is invited to an informational meeting on Monday, Feb. 6 where the school will explain what can be expected during the expansion project.

The meeting is from 6 to 7 p.m. at the school (2005 Via Barrett in San Lorenzo).

After brief presentations from the school principal, project architect, and contractors, a Q&A session will be conducted to address any questions or comments.
