San Lorenzo Schools Buzzing With Spelling Bees
The best spellers from four elementary schools in the district will compete for a chance to advance to Alameda County Spelling Bee, held later this spring.

On Tuesday, Jan. 17, the community of came together to support more than 40 of their best spellers during the first-annual Bay School Spelling Bee.
More than 200 people cheered on spellers as they spelled some very challenging words. All fourth and fifth-grade students should be commended for participating in the process to select the school's strongest spellers.

Fourth grader Michaela Castillo came in victorious as the first Bay School Spelling Bee champion.
A special thanks goes out to fourth and fifth-grade teachers: Danyelle Covay, Kathy Fujii, Melissa Miranda, Jody Silver, Lya Pires and Leslee Specht. They helped make this event possible.

Three other elementary schools — , and — will join Bay in the first district-wide Spelling Bee on Feb. 15.
