Sherriff's Office Investigating Attempted Castro Valley Carjacking

The Alameda County Sheriff's Office is asking for help identifying suspects in connection with an attempted carjacking in Castro Valley.

CASTRO VALLEY, CA -- The Alameda County Sheriff’s Office is seeking the public's help in identifying suspects in connection with an attempted carjacking.

Around 3 pm on Jan. 29, deputies responded to 19960 Santa Maria Avenue in Castro Valley regarding a woman yelling for help. Deputies arrived on scene and determined the woman was the victim of a carjacking attempt.

The victim indicated she was grabbed from behind and pushed to the ground immediately after she parked and secured her black 2023 Porsche Macan in front of the senior care living facility at this location.

The suspects took the key to the victim’s vehicle, which had fallen out of her purse when she was forced to the ground. The suspects tried to start the vehicle but were unsuccessful. During the incident, one of the suspects reached for their waistband and threatened to kill the victim if she did not tell them how to start the vehicle, she said.

The victim did not sustain any injuries and was able to flee on foot to safety, according to the Sheriff's Office.

The suspects are said to have fled in a silver compact BMW SUV like the one featured in the above photos. Both suspects are described as Black male juveniles, 5'4" - 5'7" tall with thin builds. The driver of the silver vehicle is unknown. The investigation is ongoing, and anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to call Detective Berumen at (510) 406-6149.
