Lewelling Taco Bell Closes Down
Construction crews emptied out the establishment and demolished the original bell tower curvature that sat on its rooftop today. No word on what business, if any, may move in.

A fence closed off the chain eatery and crews came in throughout the day to remove the equipment, furniture and demolish the signature bell tower curvature that sat on its rooftop.

The owner of the restaurant has not returned Castro Valley Patch's calls regarding why the restaurant closed down and if there is a potential business set to move into the establishment after renovations are made.
John McNaney helped with the demolition of the bell tower. He said since its an original trademark of the company, it had to go.

"[The roof will] just be a flat surface," he said.
Shman Finister, a pastor at the neighboring was a regular customer at the restaurant. He said he was a bit shocked to see it close when he walked past it today.
"It's a surprise because I was here last week and they didn't give no warning," he said.
Francesca Castelli was one of several people who drove into the drive thru today not realizing the restaurant had closed down.
"This was such a convenient place to bring the kids after school," she said. "I guess there's always the one down the street."
