Off the Grid Hayward

blues and Latin tunes to the mobile gourmet marketplace. This event will be held from 6:30-8 p.m.

Orchid Workshop

Come and learn how to take care of orchids. Bring your orchids in question or re-potting (except cymbudiums). This workshop will start at 7 p.m. at the San Lorenzo Village Homes Association Hall located at 377 Paseo Grande, San Lorenzo.

Castro Valley Unified School District Board of Education Meeting  

The Castro Valley Unified School District will be holding a Board of Education meeting. This meeting will be held at 6 p.m. in the District Office Board Room located at 4400 Alma Avenue, Castro Valley.

Food Truck Mafia Night

Many gourmet food trucks gather to satisfy your tastebuds! Not only is there amazing food — there's music and a bounce house! Chairs and tables will be provided, but most people bring their own fold-up chair to guarantee them a seat. The Food Truck Mafia will be held in the old Mervyn’s parking lot at the corner of Hesperian and Paseo Grande, from 5 to 9 p.m.

Downtown Street Party

The downtown Hayward Street Party will feature bands on four stages, a 100-vehicle car show, street entertainers, food, and an amusement zone for kids as part of celebrating a season of “California Dreamin’.” The event will be celebrated from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. on B Street between Foothill Boulevard and City Hall on Watkins Street.

Saturday, August 17

Implosion of Warren Hall

Warren Hall, the former signature building of the Hayward Campus of California State University, East Bay that housed administration offices and classrooms for some 40 years, will be demolished by implosion on Saturday, Aug. 17, at approximately 9 a.m.

San Lorenzo Farmers’ Market

California's farmers bring you the freshest fruits and vegetables. The San Lorenzo Farmers' Market will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Hesperian and Paseo Grande.

Hayward Zucchini Festival

There's sure to be something for the entire family at the Hayward Zucchini Festival, including: live music, arts & crafts and a Kids' Town area with fun games, cool prizes, face painting and rides. This event will be held from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Kennedy Park, Hayward.

CV Library Summer Book Sale

Bargains galore at the Friends of the Castro Valley Library Book Sale!  The sale includes paperback and hardback books, music and books-on-cd as well as DVDs. This book sale will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Castro Valley Library located on 3600 Norbridge Avenue, Castro Valley.

Immigration Forum

Representative Eric Swalwell (CA-15) will host an immigration forum for constituents at which he will provide up-to-date information and answer questions about reforming our immigration system. He also will share how his office can assist constituents with immigration needs. Representatives from immigration-based community organizations in the East Bay will be in attendance.  The immigration forum will be held at 10 a.m. at South Hayward Parish located at 27287 Patrick Ave., Hayward.

The Art of Animal Tracking

Animals tend to hide from people, but the signs they leave can be found everywhere at the shoreline if you know where to look. Explore tracks, scat, nests, and burrows while hiking through a trail normally closed to the public. Age 7+. $8. This event will be held from noon to 2 p.m. at the Hayward Shoreline Interpretive Center, 4901 Breakwater Ave., Hayward.
