Prosecutors Need More In UCLA Sexual Assault Case
The Los Angeles County District attorney's office asked for further investigation in the case of an alleged fraternity party assault.

LOS ANGELES, CA — The Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office asked UCLA police Thursday to conduct further investigation into a potential case against a young man arrested last month in connection with an alleged sexual assault at an off-campus fraternity party near the campus, a spokesman for the office said.
Nima Bendavood, now 22, was booked on suspicion of felony sexual penetration after surrendering Oct. 20 to UCLA campus police, authorities said.
He was released from jail the next day on bond, according to jail records.

A UCLA student -- whose name and age were not disclosed -- told campus police last month that she was assaulted shortly before 12:30 a.m. Oct. 12 in the 600 block of Gayley Avenue by a man she did not know, according to campus police Lt. Kevin Kilgore.
Bendavood, who is not a UCLA student, had allegedly been at a fraternity party, but later left and was seen heading north on Gayley Avenue, Kilgore said.
