Woman Sues Bloomingdale's After Alleged Discrimination at Century City Store

A woman has sued Bloomingdale's, claiming a sales associate at the store's Westfield Century City mall location discriminated against her as she shopped in the men's department, the Los Angeles Times reports.

The lawsuit accuses an employee of refusing to measure Rebecca Peterson-Fisher for a men's shirt one year ago. Peterson-Fisher said she was going to wear the shirt and suit for her wedding. In addition, the lawsuit states that the employee, identified as Alvin English, made "offensive" comments to the woman about wearing men's clothes.

Bloomingdale's offered Peterson-Fisher a free shirt, but the woman is requesting a jury trial and damages, the Times reports.

A spokesman for Macy's, Bloomingdale's parent company, told the Times that it does not comment on pending litigation.
