East Bay Car Thief Escapes Police After Chase and Helicopter Search, Remains at Large
A person suspected of having stolen a vehicle and led police on a chase early Sunday in Concord is still at large, police say.

EAST BAY, CA -- A suspected car thief who led police on a chase early Sunday in Concord is still at large, police say.
Authorities say that around 12:03 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 26, an officer with Concord PD saw a black Honda Civic traveling in the 2900 block of Monument Boulevard and tried to stop the driver, but the driver wouldn't pull over.
The officer then pursued the Honda, which collided with a parked vehicle at the intersection of Virginia and Robin lanes, according to police.

The suspect then fled on foot and eluded officers and despite a search that included a California Highway Patrol helicopter.
The Honda had been reported stolen to Concord police around 9 p.m. Saturday, police said.

Both the Honda Civic and the parked car that it collied with sustained only minor damage, according to police.
