CHP Hauls Giant Windmills: Photos Of The Day
Patch loves photos! Share your photos with your local Patch, and your work could be featured.
CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CA β Have you seen some unusual things being towed on Interstate 680? California Highway Patrol's commercial operations unit is helping move new windmills from Stockton to Solano County.
"Each windmill blade measures 245 feet long. To get them to their destination they use a specialized trailer with a rear set of wheels which can be remotely steered independently of the truck," CHP Contra Costa wrote in a Facebook post. "The Commercial Operations Unit is tasked with escorting extra-legal loads, which are so big or so heavy they need extra help to get to their destination, and these windmills most certainly meet that definition."
