Concord Implementing Traffic Sign and Signal Changes to Reduce Non-Resident Traffic
Concord says it plans to put measures in place to reduce the number of non-resident vehicles traversing the city during morning commutes.

CONCORD, CA -- The City of Concord has said that at the request of local residents, it plans to put in place measures to reduce the number of non-resident vehicles traveling from Clayton Road through neighborhoods located near Treat Boulevard during the weekday morning commute period, from 6:30 to 9 a.m. Monday through Friday.
Beginning Monday, March 6, new signage posted on Clayton Road will prohibit westbound left turns and/or eastbound right turns at the following intersections during morning commute hours: La Vista Avenue, Cape Cod Way, Bel Air Drive and Marclair Drive.
At several signalized intersections, the amount of green time allocated for the westbound left turn/U-turn movements would be reduced during the same hours and advisory signs will be installed notifying motorists of the limited left turn green time.

The city says the reason for limiting the left turn/U-turn green time is to discourage high volumes of cut-through traffic from turning onto residential side streets, but still allow time for low volumes of local residents to access the neighborhood at these intersections. These intersections include Farm Bureau Road, West Street, and Rosal Lane/Mendocino Drive.
The city says that anyone seeking more information on the changes can contact transportation manager Ray Kuzbari at (925) 671-3129 or via email at ray.kuzbari@cityofconcord.org.
