CONCORD, CA — The Concord Police Department Traffic Unit had some interesting reactions Thursday night while holding a "Know Your Limit" event at The Veranda shopping center.

Police said more than 100 people partnered up for the educational opportunity and over 25 people made sure they "Knew Their Limit" by taking a breathalyzer test along with other standardized field sobriety tests.

The program is intended to inform the public on how little it takes to reach the legal limit for a blood alcohol content — BAC— of 08 percent. The event helps people understand the effects of alcohol so they can make better decisions about how they get home after a night of drinking — which is especially important during the holiday season, police said.

"Let’s just say we saw a lot of shocked faces when volunteers saw their level of BAC," Concord police said. "These types of education events are made possible by funding from a grant provided by the Office of Traffic Safety (OTS). Make sure you come and check us out at the next 'Know Your Limit' event."
