Concord Police Chase Ends With Highway 4 Crash
Police said the suspect overturned while driving a car stolen Monday night in Concord.

CONCORD, CA — A man was taken to a hospital after leading Concord police on a car chase in an allegedly stolen vehicle early this morning, police said. Officers responded to a possible vehicle burglary at 3:30 a.m. in
the area of Cowell Road and Treat Boulevard. A vehicle left the scene at a high speed, according to police, and it matched a description of the suspect's car.
Police pursued the car through Concord streets and then onto Interstate Highway 680, state Highway 242 and state Highway 4.
The car then crashed into another vehicle near the Port Chicago Highway exit on Highway 4. Police said the suspect's vehicle overturned and the driver was ejected onto the road.

He was taken to a hospital and is being treated for injuries that are not life-threatening, police said.

Officials with the California Highway Patrol said they believed there were two people in the vehicle at the time of the crash, but Concord police Cpl. Chris Blakely confirmed there was only one person in the car.
Police said they initiated an officer-involved fatal incident protocol at the time of the crash because of the extent of the driver's injuries was unknown.
