Concord Resident Shot, Second Injured in Fight

A Concord resident was injured in a shooting at his home late Thursday night a short time after a man suffered a head injury in a fight less than a mile away, according to police.

Police said around 11:55 p.m., someone apparently shot into a home in the 1400 block of Darlene Drive, striking a male resident. Emergency responders found the victim inside the residence and transported him to a hospital with a gunshot wound that did not appear to be life-threatening, according to police.

Concord Police said the shooting came after officers responded to a report of a man down on Robin Lane. Officers determined that someone hit the man's head against the ground in a fight. He was taken to a hospital to be treated for a head injury. Police say the two incidents are unrelated, and no further information was immediately available this morning. Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call police at (925) 671-3030.
