Free Alzheimer's Screening to be Offered Monthly
Early detection of Alzheimer's disease is the goal of new monthly screenings in Concord.

Free and confidential Alzheimer's disease screening will be offered to area residents monthly in Concord, starting Saturday, June 16.Β
will host the events every third Saturday of each month from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in its 1170 Burnett Ave. facility in Concord.Β
βOur goal is get people talking about their memory," said Jenny Lind, of Senior Helpers of the San Francisco Bay Area.Β "Only by educating the public and providing screenings will people start to check out any concerns. Itβs a step on the road toward proper detection and appropriate care."

Nearly 600,000 Californians above the age of 55 live with Alzheimer's disease, a number expected to double by 2030, according to the California Department of Public Health.
The free screenings - a series of questions and tasks administered by a health care professional -Β are a result of a partnership between the privately held senior-care company and non-profit, Alzheimer's Foundation of America.
