Rumors Of Threats Against Heritage High School Unfounded: Police
A Brentwood police lieutenant says despite rumors on social media, no threats of violence have been made against the East Bay school.

CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CA β No threats of violence have been made against Brentwood's Heritage High School, despite rumors that circulated on social media, a police lieutenant said today. On Monday at 12:35 p.m., the police department got a report of a threat against the high school and immediately investigated, Brentwood police Lt. Walter O'Grodnick said. The rumor turned out to be false, he said.
No threat was made against the high school or its students, O'Grodnick said.
"The incident involved two students with a text message going back and forth" in which one student threatened the other, O'Grodnick said. "We determined there was no threat to public safety or the students of Heritage High."

School staff sent out a memo Monday evening explaining that there was no threat to the school, O'Grodnick said.
The lieutenant said rumors that an arrest has been made are also false.

"The downside with social media is when information gets out there, it gets distorted and that can be problematic," the lieutenant said.
With regard to the texts exchanged between the two students, "if we do determine it meets the elements for a criminal offense, that individual will be charged and held accountable for their actions," O'Grodnick said.
