Arsonist On The Run Caught After Smashing Window At Culver City Business: PD

A man wanted for arson was caught after he smashed a window at a Culver City business this week, police said.

CULVER CITY, CA — A man suspected of shattering an Overland Avenue business' window was arrested on Monday, according to police, who said the man was also wanted on suspicion of an unrelated arson incident.

Police responded to a vandalism call on the 5000 block of Overland Avenue, between Jefferson Boulevard and Ballona Creek, at around 9:30 a.m. Monday. The suspect had shattered a large glass window at the business, according to the Culver City Police Department.

Officers located the suspect near the intersection of Farragut Drive and Overland Avenue. The suspect became combative and attempted to hit and kick the officers who detained and searched him, police said.

The man, whose identity was not released, was arrested on suspicion of felony vandalism and attempted battery on a peace officer. He had two outstanding warrants, for arson and vandalism, at the time of his arrest, police said.
