Culver City Council declares FISCAL EMERGENCY and .25% TAX HIKE,
while simultaneously trying to pass a $16 MILLION Dollar GRANT!

Dear Editor and Culver City Neighbors

The City Council is about to pass a new budget for 2025-2026. In it, there is a $16 million grant to the Jubilo Village Project, a 6-story, 97 unit, low income/homeless housing development at the Culver Palms methodist church property near Culver and Sepulveda.

This is after a previous $4 million grant from Culver City for Jubilo. And after giving this project all of our HUD project-based vouchers for the next 20 years! There is no provision for Culver City citizens or CC workers to get any first rights to live there. It’s open to anyone.

In addition, the Culver Palms Methodist Church gets a brand new facility by pocketing $13.4 Million dollars!

At the same time, the Culver City Council has officially declared a fiscal emergency, and is planning to add a .25% sales tax hike! Finally, the money for the grant is not coming from city’s general fund- it’s coming from our emergency reserves (due to a $22 million deficit)!

We don’t think that all members of City Council are making rational fiscal decisions, and left unchecked, they will bankrupt our beloved city. This is happening right now, and it needs to be stopped immediately. Unless you intervene, they are going to pass it in on June 9th.

Please, call or write your Culver City Council members today, and tell them:

NO ON JUBILO!

Signed:

CulverCitizens: a group of concerned neighbors who love Culver City, and want to keep it from going bankrupt.
