We Tell Stories, UV Index, Mountain Biker Rescue and More

Culver City Patch's quick take on the essential things to know, the most interesting things to do and best places to be today.

1. It’s the last of the “We tell Stories” interactive session at the Culver City Julian Dixon library this evening. Tonight’s offering is  "I'm Gonna Eatcha" and features fun stories about outsmarting the predator. The plays which will be performed are: "The Lion in the Well" (Africa); "The Stone Troll" by J.R.R. Tolkien; "Coyote and Rabbit" (Native American); and "The Cat Who Became a Poet" by Margaret Mahy. Tonight, 7 p.m. Click here for details.

2. If you have an event you'd like us to consider for Five Things, be sure to add it to the events calendar. We check it often!

3. Wondering about traffic? Can anyone say "Obamajam?" Check your commute before work.

4. Today’s ultraviolet index level in the Los Angeles area will be 11, according to the National Weather Service. The reading indicates what the UV exposure is expected to be at noon, when the sun's rays are at their strongest. A very high exposure level reading of 10, or greater, means a fair skinned person could suffer a sunburn in about four minutes if not protected.

5. A Culver City man was among four mountain bike riders rescued in the Los Angeles Forest. Read the story here
