DANVILLE, CA — The Town Of Danville’s maintenance department installed reflective markers along Sycamore Valley Road and Camino Tassajara in May to enhance the visibility of the median, the town said Thursday.

About 2,500 reflective pavement markers were added to the medians.

Unrelated to the reflectors, in police chief Allan Shields’ address to the community Wednesday he mentioned an ongoing problem of speeding in the area.

“We have poor driving in our downtown area. We’re continuing to go out there,” Shields said. “Our traffic officer was out there earlier today and I think he wrote another five or six citations and made about that plus another half a dozen stops for warnings,” Shields said.

Shields stressed repeating the message of “slow down.”

“When my traffic officer comes in saying he's writing tickets for 60 and 70 miles an hour down Camino Tassajara - that is an egregious speeding violation,” he said. “We will write every ticket needed to make sure we don't have those horrific accidents.”
