Danville Town Council Set To Extend Local Emergency

The move comes about as a result of two atmospheric rivers which hit the area earlier this year causing flooding and mudslides.

DANVILLE, CA — Danville's Town Council is expected to extend the existence of a local emergency during it's Tuesday, Oct.3 meeting. The move comes about as the town continues repairs following flooding and mudslides that occurred after a pair of atmospheric rivers hit the Bay Area in December and January.

The San Ramon Creek flooded Dec. 31 during those atmospheric river events, causing mudslides and several trees to fall along the creek, from Front Street between Diablo Road and East Linda Mesa Avenue, then a second atmospheric event hit Jan. 4, causing more damage, the city said.

winter storms, the Front Street slide repair is not yet complete," the agenda item reported. "This repair, which is significant and needs to be completed to avoid loss of the roadway, is an emergency project which needs to be completed before any further rains impact the creek."

Work recently began on the projects which are expected to take two to three months to complete, the city said, adding that continuation of the original storm related emergency declaration was necessary to allow Danville to complete the Front Street project and enhance the likelihood of FEMA reimbursement.
