Former Danville School Volunteer Pleads No Contest To False Imprisonment
A Danville man was initially charged with multiple child sex felonies, but pleaded no contest to false imprisonment as part of a plea deal.
DANVILLE, CA — A Danville man pleaded no contest to false imprisonment by violence, according to court records.
Angelo Zandona, 49, entered into a plea deal Dec. 2, according to records from the Superior Court of Alameda County. Terms of the plea deal include a protective order, probation, and DNA collection.
Zandona was initially charged with multiple felonies and enhancements, including intercourse or sodomy with a child, sex crime with a child 10 or under, and inflicting bodily harm, according to court records. He pleaded not guilty or denied all charges and enhancements.

As part of the plea deal, all charges except false imprisonment by violence were dismissed with no findings.
Sentencing is scheduled for Jan. 7.

Patch reached out to Zandona’s attorney for comment.
At the time of the alleged assaults, Zandona was a Level One volunteer at John Baldwin Elementary School in Danville, according to the San Ramon Valley Unified School District. Level One volunteers are allowed to volunteer in the classroom, chaperone day field trips as a non-driver, and support campus activities. To be approved, Level One volunteers must apply online and submit to a sex offender registry search.
