BAY AREA, CA — The Bay Area had a welcome sight on Monday — the sun, something the Golden State struggled to see during the chilly weekend. However, a cold front, albeit a weak one, is not far off the coast, accompanied by patchy and dense fog, especially inland, with cloudy skies, according to the National Weather Service.

Low clouds are expected to finally pass tomorrow after hanging on through much of the day, especially in the North Bay valleys, Contra Costa County, the Santa Clara Valley, and parts of the San Mateo Peninsula, where dense fog advisories are in effect through 11 a.m.
The North Bay may see light showers tonight, though meteorologists expect minimal impact— a brief brush-by rather than a dousing.

Showers finally reach south of the Golden Gate by Tuesday afternoon, with minor impacts to the evening commute. Showers are expected to linger through Wednesday.
Widespread rain returns to the North Bay on Friday afternoon, then spreads south to the Central Coast by Saturday.
