DANVILLE, CA — The San Ramon Valley Unified School District will distribute free at-home COVID-19 test kits to Danville families this week, days before students return to class Tuesday.
Families have been allocated one testing kit of two rapid antigen tests per student, thanks to the California Department of Public Health. Tests will only be available for children of SRVUSD schools, the district said.
"While COVID-19 tests are not mandatory for returning students, we encourage you to take advantage of this opportunity for a little extra peace of mind as we navigate this stage of the pandemic," the district said in a letter to the community. "Moreover, the steps we take together can help ensure the safest possible learning environment for all of our students and staff."

Any families who are out of town this week may pick up kits from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday at the Education Center.
All pickup sites are drive-thrus, though there will be a walk-up area to accommodate those who cannot use the drive-thru. Wear a mask at all times, the district said.
Families are asked to administer the tests to their students Saturday and Monday and report those results online, regardless of whether they are positive or negative. Positive cases should also be reported to your school, the district said.
