Man Crashes Near Alamo Business Following Pursuit: Officials

After speeding down I-242 and I-680, the man allegedly hit a sheriff's office radar trailer before coming to rest in a parking lot.

CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CA — A 24-year-old man was arrested after leading Contra County Sheriff's deputies on a high-speed chase that started in the Antioch area and ended near Danville on Tuesday, sheriff's officials said. A sheriff's deputy spotted a stolen vehicle on westbound state Highway 4 near Bailey Road around 2:55 p.m. Tuesday and started following it.

The deputy didn't start a pursuit, but the suspect, identified as Darryl Maiale, sped away. Sheriff's officials said the deputy stopped the pursuit when Maiale was driving recklessly and GPS technology was deployed to follow the vehicle.

Maiale allegedly then traveled at high speeds on southbound state Highway 242 and southbound Interstate Highway 680, before being spotted again on the I-680 freeway near Stone Valley Road.
