Forward Progress Stopped On Grant Fire; Some 580 Lanes Reopen

Drivers should expect major delays during rush hour Friday afternoon in the East Bay.

LIVERMORE, CA — Forward progress has been stopped on the Grant Fire, a 10-acre wildfire burning near I-580 near Altamont.

The fire broke out Friday at 2:47 p.m. and quickly spread to about five acres, according to the Watch Duty app. Forward progress was stopped around 3:23 p.m., according to radio traffic intercepted by Watch Duty.

As of 5:22 p.m., some lanes on eastbound I-580 are reopened, but the left and right lanes are closed, according to the California Highway Patrol.
