Why do you believe the local hero should be recognized or honored?
I would like to nominate Janet Songey and Matt Troiano as Local Heros for the Patch. In 2012, they headed up a committee to organize a Thanksgiving Dinner for seniors, military, or anyone who needed a place for Thanksgiving Dinner. The dinner was hosted at St. Raymond Catholic Church in Dublin, where they were both members. It has been held annually each year except for the Covid years and Matt and Janet have continued to chair the event. They are very dedicated to helping make Thanksgiving a memorable event for all who come.
The event uses over 200 volunteers to help decorate the hall, prepare the meal, serve the food, clean up and do the dishes. Their desire is to make it really nice, so they use nice china, serve the food to the tables and have nice entertainment, also provided by volunteers. Matt takes care of the kitchen and Janet takes care of the organizational activities.
They are also dedicated to community service in other areas. Janet has been a volunteer for CityServe, an organization that helps the homeless and serves on the human services commission for the city of Dublin, California. Matt is busy during the year volunteering with the Knights of Columbus.
What's one thing you want everyone to know about the local hero? They are dedicated, kind and passionate Thank you for all you do, Janet Songey & Matt Troiano!
