DUI Checkpoint In Dublin This Weekend

DUBLIN, CA — Dublin Police Services is looking to crack down on intoxicated drivers this weekend.

Police will host a checkpoint to look for drivers who are under the influence and without driver's licenses from 7 p.m. Dec. 17 to 3 a.m. Dec. 18, police announced. The location was not disclosed.

Extra officers will hit the streets from 6 p.m. Dec. 18 to 2 a.m. Dec. 19 in search of intoxicated drivers.

Dublin police have investigated 22 DUI-related crashes this year, police said. One person was killed and several were injured in these incidents.

The checkpoint and patrols will take place in areas with a history of DUI-related arrests and crashes, police said.

A DUI charge might cost a total of $13,500 and could result in a suspended license and jail time, police said.

Police urged people to designate a sober driver, call 911 if they spot intoxicated drivers and keep an eye on how intoxicated guests at a party get home. Walking while impaired is also dangerous, police said.

Livermore police will also hold a DUI checkpoint and have extra officers on patrol this weekend.
