Emerald High School To Host Ribbon Cutting, Open House
The community is invited to tour Phase 1 of the extensive new high school, which will open to freshmen and sophomores in August.

DUBLIN, CA — After a long wait, the Tri-Valley community will be able to tour the new campus of Emerald High School on Saturday, June 8, the Dublin Unified School District announced. At 9:30 a.m., visitors will witness a brief ribbon-cutting ceremony, and will then be able to tour the first new comprehensive high school in Alameda County in 50 years.
In March, the school completed Phase 1 of the construction, which includes one of two academic towers, an administration building, student union, visual and performing arts center, library, gym, locker rooms, tennis courts, sports field, and track.
Phase 2, which is anticipated to be completed in April 2025, will include an additional academic tower, an extension to the visual and performing arts center, and stadium bleachers. In August 2026, the school expects to complete the 600-seat Catherine Kuo Performing Arts Center, named after the beloved DUSD Trustee who died in a 2021 accident.

Emerald High School’s first 350 freshmen are currently attending classes in a temporary section of Dublin High School. In August, 950 freshmen and sophomore students will attend. Each year, the school will add a new class, until it is filled with 2500 students in grade 9-12.
The new high school was necessary to accommodate a district that grew 92% from 2010 to 2020, far more than neighboring districts, according to DUSD. Using two bonds, the district financed a project estimated to cost a total of $374 million. It’s quite the investment: when complete, the campus will span over 301,000 square feet along 23.46 acres. This will include:
