Meet Michael McCorriston, Candidate For Dublin City Council District 1

Here are the responses from Michael McCorriston, the current mayor who is running uncontested for District 1. He submitted a biography, and we have inserted parts of it to the relevant original questions sent to all candidates.

1. What is your personal, educational, and professional background?

Michael McCorriston was appointed Mayor of the City of Dublin, California, in June 2024, following the resignation of former Mayor Melissa Hernandez. He was first elected to the Dublin City Council in November 2020 and was appointed Vice Mayor in 2021.

In his professional life, Mr. McCorriston spent four decades in treasury and banking, managing financial resources of large multinational companies. He received his MBA from the University of San Diego and a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Finance from San Jose State University.

2. How long have you lived in Dublin?

He and his wife, Sylvia have lived in Dublin for 30 years and have two daughters, Lauren and Sarah both of whom attended Dublin schools.

3. How have you been involved in the community?

5. What do you feel are some of the biggest challenges facing Dublin? What are your plans for addressing them?

Mayor McCorriston’s top priorities include the development of Downtown Dublin and the Dublin Boulevard Extension to Livermore, both of which will be transformational for the city. In addition to supporting business and economic initiatives, he is also an advocate for workforce housing and creating services for seniors.
