DUBLIN, CA — Roughly 5,000 people convened in Dublin Saturday for the Tri-Valley's only No Kings Protest, according to protest organizers.

Protesters waved a variety of colorful signs decrying Donald Trump, Elon Musk, and ICE on the stretch from I-680 to Dougherty Road, according to Indivisible Tri-Valley organizer Kyoko Takayama.

Signs include slogans like, "Hate does not make America great", "No throne no crown no king no clown," "ICE melts under pressure," and "If there's money for a parade, there's money for Medicaid," a reference to the elaborate military parade in Washington, D.C. that was the catalyst for the more than 1,800 No Kings protests worldwide.

Speakers included Laura Brown, who spoke on behalf of Miguel Angel Lopez, a Livermore resident who was recently detained at an immigration hearing and deported just hours before a judge ordered him to be able to stay.

"We are not against the law, we are against the abuse of the law," Brown said. "We are against deportation without due process. We are against fear replacing fairness, and we will not stand down."

"We are still standing, still fighting," said another speaker, Rev. Jennifer Murdock of Lynnewood United Methodist Church in Pleasanton. "We believe in justice, even when the system tries to silence us, even when they try to erase names, stories, and rights."

"50 years later, I've now found myself called by my country to come do something," said local Vietnam War veteran Rion Causey. "I am not a visionary, but I see next year, next summer a 10 million-person march on Washington, D.C."

Many of the speeches are uploaded to YouTube.

The rally also included a piece of political theater where someone dressed up as the Statue of Liberty was imprisoned, then freed by a series of chants from the crowd.

Thousands also showed up in downtown Walnut Creek for another rally.

On Saturday, the city of Dublin and Camp Parks hosted a celebration of the army's birthday at Don Biddle Park, which featured live demonstrations from military personnel.
