Council Hears Homeless Shelter Stats, Success Stories (egcitizen.com) — Elk Grove’s homeless shelter at Calvary Christian Center served 93 adults this year, helping many move into permanent housing while reducing city homeless encampments and trash. City staff and police report strong outcomes, including behavioral health referrals, job gains, and a 65% drop in encampment use, as the council advances plans for a new shelter site. 
2. City Scholarship Supports Future Community Leaders (egcitizen.com) — Elk Grove is offering a $1,000 city scholarship to high school seniors living within city limits who plan to attend a four-year university or community college full time. Applicants need at least a 2.0 GPA, active school and community involvement, and a strong interest in civic engagement, including a two-page essay on their role in local government.
3. Man who took women, forced them into sex work, faces life after Sacramento verdict (sacbee.com) — A man has been convicted of holding two women captive in his Elk Grove apartment, where prosecutors say they were drugged and forced into sex work. Elk Grove police helped rescue one victim after she escaped and sought help. The defendant now faces a potential life sentence at a January hearing in Sacramento Superior Court.

From California to Big Rapids Ferris State LB Isaiah Byars Story (nfldraftdiamonds.com) — An Elk Grove native, linebacker Isaiah Byars, has taken his talents from Cosumnes Oaks High School all the way to Ferris State in Michigan, where he’s now an All-GLIAC First Team defender.
