Bartholomew is a 2-year and 9-month-old, 41-pound, male, Shepherd mix.
His previous owner surrendered Bartholomew to a shelter when he moved to a place that does not allow dogs. He was transferred to Rancho Coastal Humane Society through Friends of County Animal Shelters (FOCAS).
Bartholomew is friendly and playful. He’s very food motivated. He sits for treats…without you even having to tell him. He enjoys being around children.

Special note.
November is “Adopt a Senior Pet Month.” Rancho Coastal Humane Society in Encinitas is encouraging families to meet older cats and dogs available for adoption.
There are lots of advantages to adopting a senior pet:
- You know what you’re getting.
- Unlike kittens or puppies, it’s not a 24-7 job to adopt a senior pet.
- Senior pets usually settle into their new homes more quickly.
- You can match a senior pet with your activity level.
- When you adopt a senior pet…you’re a hero!
- If you are 60 or older and you adopt a senior pet 7 years or older, the adoption fee will be paid by a generous Rancho Coastal Humane Society benefactor.
