Coast Guard Offloads Over $203M In Seized Cocaine In San Diego

SAN DIEGO, CA — U.S. Coast Guard personnel offloaded tens of thousands of pounds of cocaine Monday in San Diego.
The crew members of Coast Guard Cutters Active and Munro seized approximately 27,551 pounds of cocaine during three separate interdictions of suspected drug-smuggling vessels in international waters off the coasts of Mexico, Central America and South America, according to the Coast Guard. Two of the three interdictions were conducted by Active crew members and one was conducted by Munro crew members.
The drugs are estimated to be worth $203.9 million.

"The Coast Guard is escalating the fight against narco-terrorism and trans-national criminal organizations flooding our nation with deadly drugs," said Rear Adm. Jeffrey Novak, deputy commander of Coast Guard Pacific Area and commander of Coast Guard Southwest District. "By continuing to surge resources to the Eastern Pacific Ocean in coordination with international and interagency partners and allies, our maritime fighting force is making historic strides toward dismantling the smuggling networks that threaten the safety and security of the American people."
